2nd Annual Quincy Family Reunion; Estes Park

The last five days have been heaven for me! I am so blessed to not only have such awesome kids that are fun to be around, but to have such fun and supportive spouses for each of them. I enjoyed it all. There are lots of pictures, I'll post some of my favorites, but not the 250 I took. We even shared the grandkids very well!

Here's the condos we stayed in.

Some of the family shots down by the river.

Profiles of the pregnant girls, who don't really look pregnant yet, but we tried.

Fun City; go carts, mini golf, race down the slide & Sophie on the horse ride.

The wonderful game of Ultimate flipflop!

Human whirlpool in the hot tub.
The Bear Lake hike. Elevation 9700 feet.

(Note the snow around the lake made it all more interesting).

The Sprague Lake hike.

The girls took a trip to downtown Estes Park while the guys went to see Terminator. It had an old town Park City feel, but very full of tourists.

Early morning hike to Cub Lake. Of course Nicole and I had the most fun tending the girls.

Josh and Meg kayaking on Lake Estes.

The park by Lake Estes.

Chicken fights, rock skipping, swinging and playing.

A cold swim, notice all the hot tubbers.

One of the coolest things about the place was that it was right next to a river and nestled in the mountains. There were a bunch of elk feeding and hanging out right across the river from us.
Right under one condo was the rec room. We had fun with the ping pong, pool, air hockey and for Sophie; driving. Under the other condo was the exercise room.

Sunday we all headed to Denver and Jessica and Dan's apartment. We got ready for her church, then realized we'd have to leave in the middle of sacrament meeting (kind of disruptive with 16 or you) so we had a family home evening there.
I had to add the video of Sophie dancing while Jonathan played the piano. Sophie adores Jonathan. He seems to be her favorite of all the aunts and uncles which is funny because he is the one least concerned about it. She follows him everywhere and cries when he leaves the room.

Thanks for all of the great food, for getting off of work, missing school, and flying in to be there! What an awesome family! Next year in Utah with 2 or more new members! How did we do this without Meg last year?

More Jonathan in concert

Tonight was Jonathan's last Concert Choir performance. Don't worry he made Jazz Choir, so there'll be more performances ahead. He accompanied 3 numbers, sang in an ensemble, accompanied another, and got a "Most Valuable Performer" award from his choir teacher. Here's a couple of his best performances; (he's on the far left in the first one and at the piano in the second one).

Meets, projects and deadlines

This has been an incredibly busy time for Jonathan. He has had a bunch of major assignments all due at about the same time and big tests. The irritating thing is that some classes have had 2 or 3 major assignments due for the same class. Here's him working on a science project (a solar oven) on Saturday between the ward clean up, and going to the temple with Alex to keep him out of the way for his surprise birthday party.
He had the first long course meet of the season tonight at Kearn's Aquatic Center.
He dropped 2 seconds in his 100 meter free.
The splash is supposed to be me getting Jonathan's start. Oops! He has lots of fun talking to the other swimmers. We actually got some studying done for his Spanish final tomorrow and some reading done for his English class.

The meet was supposed to end with Jonathan in the final heat of the final event at about 9:30 pm. When the coach told us they were about 45 minutes behind schedule and getting further behind by the minute, we decided to scratch his last event.

So he had time to come home and get started on his endangered species report for science. Now its just 3 more Spanish finals, his Romeo and Juliet project and his final draft of his love essay and the rest of that endangered species report to get done before we head to Denver! He has a choir concert on Thursday. I'll try to at least get video of the songs he accompanies.

Youth Conference 1973 or 1974?

I found these old negatives in a box of stuff with my treasure's of truth book. I had them put on a cd at Walmart. Not very good quality, but I have to share a few. Note; Bob and Pam posing with Sue Peterson and Dean playing cards me and a bunch of friends, including Brent Todd. I was surprised that Connie was there. Anyway they are all from our youth conference trip to Rick's College. I'm thinking it must have been in 1973 for Dean, Bob, Connie and I all to be there at the same time. I think that Kathy had just left on her mission, so maybe I have the year wrong and its 1974? How do you guys remember it? I think it was the funnest Youth Conference I remember!

Mother's Day 2009

This has been a great Mother's Day! It was a hard one for Meg. I want her and all of my kids to know that I love and appreciate them and couldn't ask for better people to mother.
I am entering a new phase of mothering. Being a mother to a mother is a wonderful thing. I love seeing the growth and the great job my kids are doing at being and preparing to be parents. I loved the phone calls, cards, gifts, letters, notes, video chats, and visits from my kids. I wanted to share this sweet gift that Jonathan made for me. He recorded himself playing "Cherished Moments" by John Schmidt and then put together this slide show of my loved ones for me.

I also want to mention how blessed I am to have such a wonderful mother. She is a joy to be around and is the epitome of goodness and kindness. It would be impossible to be as giving as she is, but I try every day to be worthy of her love and service to me.

Jonathan is certified!

After a terrible experience being tested for over 5 hours and having been up for over 16 hours that day, today Jonathan retested a couple of things he'd messed up on and he passed! He has an interview at Marv Jensen tomorrow.
