Dancing darlings!

What a Week!

Sophie was very excited about Steph's birthday candles. She really thinks Steph is a princess ever since she saw her in her wedding dress. I was pretty lazy about pictures Sunday since Jack and Jess were both taking pictures. So I only have 2 from the whole crazy week!
These girls love their momma! When she got home from shopping they swarmed her! Tessa was hugging and kissing her until she saw the camera.

Monday was simple; visiting teaching, school shopping with Jonathan and the usual clean up from the week-end.
Tuesday Jonathan, Richard and I took turns helping load up Jack and Steph's stuff from their Sandy apartment and moved them to their Provo apartment. Jonathan got 2 turns, so that Richard and I could celebrate 31 years of marriage by going to the temple and doing sealings. Wednesday; Meg found out it's a girl and Joni found out it's not cancer.
Thursday; Jonathan started school.
Friday; the Chapmans arrived!!
Saturday; Richard went fishing while the Chapmans and I went to a "Make a Wish" fundraiser/Eagle project breakfast, Jonathan worked his first 8 hour day then went to the Bingham football game that lasted until midnight, and Richard and I went to the Stake Bishopric dinner.
Sunday was Dallin's mission farewell. It was awesome! Nancy gave the most powerful talk I've ever heard on Joseph Smith and Dallin bore his testimony in spanish, sounding like I did when I came home!! (BTW he is going to my mission!!!). Then we had Steph's belated Birthday Party! Monday; the Chapmans left and life is back its usual quiet norm. Next highlight in our routine will be the Kendalls coming the middle of September!!

Hopefully I can upload this video of Sophie and Tessa dancing up a storm!

Home alone!

Today is the first time I've been home alone for more than an hour or so for ages! Jonathan started his junior year in High School. He has a job at Riverton Music. He got a cell phone. He has a jeep to drive himself to swim practices, the library and to hang out with his friends. We have started a new phase of life at the Quincy home! I think I like it, but I'm not sure yet.

Change; the only constant in this life

A bunch of camera shy kids! Jack and Steph stopped by to use the computer and Jonathan after his first day of work.
So, the wedding is over, the honeymoon is over and Jack and Steph should be able to relax, right? No, they have decided to take the offer from Microsoft. Since the school Steph would attend in Seattle won't take any credits from the U of U, they are going to move to Provo and have her take a couple of classes at UVU while Jack finishes at BYU. So they are apartment shopping again.

Jonathan found out he got a job at Riverton Music on his way to the temple on Friday. The timing was perfect; he had his last 2 days of early morning swim Monday and Tuesday and the training for his job was Wednesday. He was nervous about it, but seems to be doing fine and enjoying it more each day.
On a personal note; I am up to 5 miles on my walk/bike routine in the mornings!! It helps that its cooled off some!

More Grandkids

Jason and James flew out on Sunday. I took Jason and Nicole to spend the rest of the Utah time with the Lynches. Jenny stayed with us until today. This is Jenny and Jonathan enjoyed their favorite anime together. They were delighted to find out the other one watches it. Avatar, the last earth bender or something. We were also priviledged to have Sophie and Tessa over yesterday and spend the night here while Jess and Dan celebrated their 6th anniversary in Park City.
Jen and I took them to the Riverton Park yesterday morning. Here's cool Sophie. Cute Tessa. Fun Dean. I got this shot this morning when Tessa was still asleep. Don't these 2 look alike?I love time with the grandkids! I loved having Jenny to myself for a couple of days. I never get enough of that!
Jumping Dean

Jenny swinging 3 kids.Jenny and Tessa doing Just Dance. BTW Jen got the highest score of anyone so far on the game, big surprise, NOT!

I got a gate pass to help Jenny down to her gate with her carry on, diaper bag, formula cooler and Dean. The bonus was that I got to see Nicole and Sydney again. They flew home on the same flight! The bad news is that I left my camera and cell phone home so no pictures! I need to remember that when my grandkids are in town, I need to always have my camera with me!!

Some of Jess' pictures from the wedding!

Married, Friday the 13th of August in the Oquirrah Mountain temple!
All of us at the reception!

My boys; Jason, Jack, Josh and Jonathan.Sydney and her beautiful mother, Nicole. The darling Kendall family with Jason and Sydney in the background. Thanks for the great pictures Jessica! Thanks for coming to the wedding everyone!

Aunt Laura's Pictures from the Wedding

Dean into his toy.
Rescuing the babysitters.Dallin, Naomi, Siera and Grandma Grandpa, the fashion setter. Nicole has become the "favorite aunt". Joni and her date, Gino at the reception.
Jonathan found out on the way to the temple that he has a job at Riverton Music!! Scott, Kristi and Jonathan at the luncheon Sydney meets Aunt Laura! They finally get to eat lunch!

Weddings, Wild Kids and All

The last 3 days have been a blast! From helping with the flowers for the wedding, to hanging out at the reception and especially the temple and luncheon. I loved being free to visit with everyone. The decorations and food were wonderful! Stephanie's mom; Heidi deserves a big hand! I was pleasantly surprised at how many people came all the way up there to the reception! Thanks family and friends!
I did get a few pictures of the great crew that set up this place and a couple of the guests (I gave Richard the camera and had to force him to take every shot he did take) My only disappointment in the whole wedding frenzy was leaving my camera home and not getting any pictures at the temple or wedding luncheon. Luckily Jessica and James got lots of pictures! I just have to be patient to get those!
Here I am trying to hold all of my grandkids. Sydney is running wild on the floor, she is hard to get in a still shot! The cute couple cutting the cake.

Jess insisted on this stripper pose for me; I stripped the leaves off of the roses for the centerpieces.

Making the centerpieces, Nicole, Jenny and Jess. Excited to get their own flower to hold. Sophie and Tessa all dressed up and ready for the reception. Dean making an important call. One in a million shot of Sydney and Dean both looking at the camera this morning before they left to see their other grandparents. They both got sunburn at the temple yesterday. Sophie and Tessa liked to try to crawl around like Sydney at the reception. They also did a lot of dancing.

Another busy Saturday

This day was a long time coming! After 3 times through the discussions and many sets of missionaries Nick AND his sister, Mikayla were baptized today! Congrats you two! They were very happy! There wasn't an empty seat in the room and the FIVE missionaries that were there had to stand at the back of the room with Richard and the Bishop. Of course the long anticipated family reunion was at the same time as the baptism, so I was only able to hang out for half an hour. I realized that of my Dad's living siblings, only he and his baby sister are able to get around without wheelchairs. Here's Dad and his baby sister's husband, Mel. Uncle Lee and Aunt Chaille arriving in their matching Jazzies. Uncle Glen and his wife, Charlotte presiding. Jack and Richard made most of the drive from Seattle today. Alas, Steph had to go to a bachelorette party, so Jack and Jonathan are baching it and play on his XBox. For most of the last 15 years we have had swimming suits hanging up to dry in our laundry room. Its been a little strange the last 6 months without any swimmers at the house. Jonathan surprised us and started swimming this week. The laundry room is back to normal! And the good news is that he can drive himself to the swimming pool at 5:30 am!

To Denver and Back Again

By the time I got to Denver on Tuesday afternoon, the poor Chapmans had already been to the airport 3 times that day! The girls were unnapped and worn out. Since it was the only time I'd be there with all of the Chapmans we decided to go out to dinner somewhere that would totally distract and liven up the girls. So we went to Chuck E. Cheese's and it was a BIG hit! Sophie "loved, loved, loved Chuck E. Cheese". Here's some pictures of the highlights;
Sophie helping her Dad on a motorcycle video game. The look on Sophie's face may have something to do with the accident she had shortly after on the playground. Tessa loved the horsey! A couple of princesses on their way to the ball. You may have noticed that resourceful Jessica put Tessa's shorts on Sophie and Tessa just wore her onesie the rest of the night. This roller coaster simulator was a ride for the whole family! Goofy girls in the toddler play ground.
Dan stopped and got us Krispy Kreamy donuts on the way home and they gave the girls these awesome hats. The other picture I took was even more blurry. Those girls don't like to hold still.Early Wednesday morning Jess was off to Girl's Camp, Dan was off to work and I had the girls to myself!! (Jess, I did do Sophie's hair, this is just after her nap). She was very proud of her painting skills on the Cinderella suncatcher behind her, but too distracted with the Cinderalla movie to look at the camera. We really had some great bonding time! Poor Dan was gone for all but a 10 minute dinner break on Wednesday. He had meetings to go to after work at church, the sofa to pick up, and then basketball to play. The timing couldn't have been better for the sale of the old and arrival of the new furniture, they passed each other in the parking lot! Jessica traded her old couch and love seat for this brown sofa. A totally new look for her room! It wasn't even too sad to leave the girls in Denver, they are coming for the wedding next week!!

Roller coaster family.Tessa loved this slide. I loved how she had to stop and hug the kitty after every trip down the slide. It was I love, love, love him until it was time to high five him and pose for a shot with him and then they got as far away as fast as they could saying; "no thank you". Hopefully you noticed Jessica's sweet dance moves!
